Paranormal Definitions

Apparition: The appearance of a deceased person.

Anomaly: An irregular, unknown image that appears on photos or video.

Debunk: When an investigator is able to give valued explaination of a reported paranormal event.

EMF: Eletromagnetic Field. A device that is used to measure electromagnetic energy

Entities: are believed to be angels and/or demons. They are completely ethereal in nature and have never lived as a human being. A key characteristic is an tremendous sense of good or evil. It is uncommon to see a enititie.

ESP: Extra Sensory Perception. Communication and/or perception by means other than the physical senses. examples: clairaudience, clairvoyance, medium/psychic, precognition, presence, psychometry, telepathy.

EVP: Electonic Voice Phenomena. Audible voices recorded on a digital voice recorder or cassette that were not heard at the time of the recording.

Ghost: Is seem that there all many different answers to this one. Webster's dictionary definition is- The spirit of a dead person which is believed to appear to or haunt living persons. My difinition is- A person who has passed on but who has not crossed over into the spirit world.

Ghost Hunt: going to a place were there have been no sightings of ghosts and trying to catch some on film (video and photos), sounds, eyewitness, etc.

Ghost Investigation - going to a known haunted place and recording data (video, photos, audio, temperatures), notes, interviews and other evidence to prove/disprove the haunting.

Haunting: Paranormal phenomena that frequently occurs in an area or building over a long period of time.

Hot Spot is the area of a haunting that has a higher frequency of paranormal activity.

Medium/Psychic: A person who can communicate with the dead and/or who has the ability to see, hear and feel by use of the sixth sense.

Orb: A sphere of energy which is thought by some to be created by spirits. Most investigators don't include orbs as paranormal evidents.

Paranormal: Events that are beyond the range of normal experience or scientific explanation

Poltergeist: German word for 'noisy ghost. Usually a mischievous ghost responsible for unexplained noises such ad rapping.

Spirit: Yet again this word has many meanings. Webster's dictionary definition is- A supernatural being or essence. My difinition is- A person who has passed on and successfully moved onto the spirit world.
